‘An old man’s lament’

My hunting days are over

My lamp is burning out,

And what was once my sex appeal

Is now my water-spout.

I used to be embarrassed

To watch the thing behave

For it would stand-up in the morning

And watch me have a shave.

But now that I am old and grey

It sure gives me the blues

To watch the damned thing

Hang its head in shame

And watch me clean my shoes
