Knowledge, understanding, wisdom: one might acquire these progressively without remembering how it happened. As a voracious reader who has read widely, I have little idea how I have reached certain understandings.
As a Seeker, I have somehow gained the impression that we will, many lifetimes later, reach that Ocean from which we departed. The metaphysics of Hinduism refers to this launching site as the Ocean of Consciousness. I can, quite seriously, envisage me being blown out as a bubble into that great bubble I am in, the Universe.
There may be many such large bubbles (universes), each providing a learning environment for the humans so projected from that Ocean.
For those who fear foreign faiths, an alternative description might be appropriate: that we arose from that ever-present, all-pervasive, flowing aether. We will soon accept the aether as reality, for nothing else makes sense.
If we are sensible, we will enjoy the learning path we are on, until we return Home. It is, I believe, that subtle yearning for that Home (or the Creator behind it) which we think of as spirituality.
I offer this quote from T.S. Eliot, which captures, what I believe:
“And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.”
